Good mineral project disclosure is more than a regulatory requirement. It is fundamental to informed investment decisions and market credibility. This course brings together regulators, legal counsel, and industry professionals to examine the key requirements of National Instrument 43-101 (NI 43-101) and the issues that most frequently attract regulatory attention. This short course provides a practical overview of NI 43-101 that mining companies and industry professionals need to understand. The course is designed for geoscientists, engineers, company executives, and others involved in preparing, reviewing, or approving mineral project disclosure. The program focuses on the fundamental requirements that support clear, consistent, and investment decision-useful mineral project disclosure.
Attention is given to exploration-stage projects, mineral resources, and preliminary economic assessments (PEAs), which account for more than 75% of NI 43-101 technical report filings in a typical year. Participants will learn about common deficiencies and regulatory concerns, the Canadian disclosure framework and its place within the global regulatory environment, and practical approaches for managing regulatory reviews.
The course will also address current trends, emerging issues, developments in other jurisdictions, and potential revisions affecting mineral project disclosure. Staff from the BC Securities Commission and legal counsel from Dentons will discuss common disclosure deficiencies, regulatory expectations, and key legal updates and considerations related to mineral project disclosure. Ample time will be provided for questions and discussion throughout the day. This course offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from regulators and legal experts, gain practical insights into current disclosure challenges, and build confidence in preparing clear and credible mineral project disclosure.
