This short course presents new results from two major Mineral Deposit Research Unit (MDRU) research programs on porphyry copper-gold and related epithermal systems, spanning the Western Tethyan porphyry belt and British Columbia. Talks cover how fertility signals can be extracted from lithogeochemical and mineral chemistry data sets and turned into practical exploration tools. The course will provide insights on deposits that do not conform to established exploration models and presents data that challenge current paradigms on porphyry genesis.
The course is aimed at exploration geologists, geochemists, and technical managers working in porphyry and epithermal terranes, and assumes a working knowledge of porphyry-epithermal deposit models.
